LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT
CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT CANDIDATE – JOSEPH COSTOLNICK, III
Friday, April 24, 2020
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN :
I was honored when asked to write a Letter of Endorsement for Clerk of Superior Court Candidate Joseph Costolnick, III (Joe). I first met Joe in late 2000 as he was proceeding through the police officer selection process for the City of Rome. Over the next twenty years, Joe went from an officer to detective, to someone I could go to for advice when faced with issues going on within the police department. I always found him to be honest and straightforward; never inflating an issue just to side with other officers. I guess you could call him one of many “go to” officers that I relied on when I needed background information before making important decisions that affected the working relationships, pay, benefits, and safety of city officers. Joe had a very sincere interest in doing what was right for both the city and the police department; quickly realizing there was a middle ground to every issue raised. Working with Joe, I found him to be an excellent listener, possess moral courage and high ethics; very honest and fair; and his integrity was one of his strongest traits. For that, I will always be grateful. I would be remiss not to include that Joe is driven, self-disciplined, persistent, and very goal and detailed oriented. I appreciated the continuous support during the years that we worked together for the City of Rome.
Joe left the City in August 2017 to accept a position at Harbor House, but we remained in touch, which has led to a great friendship. I know both candidates, and they both bring many assets to the table, but I strongly believe that Joe will bring a fresh approach to the position due to his strong and dedicated background in law enforcement and the public sector. Joe is a hard worker and will do what it takes to get the job done as Clerk of Superior Court, in the most efficient and effective manner.
For the reasons captured above, without hesitation, I endorse Joseph Costolnick, III for Clerk of Superior Court.

To the Voters of Floyd County,
I would like to take this opportunity to endorse Joseph Costolnick for the office of Clerk of the Superior Court. I have known Joe for over 20 years. He worked for me as a Detective for the Rome Police Department for 8 years, from 2005 until 2013. In my 37 years of law enforcement, Joe was one of the most intelligent and effective criminal investigators I ever had the privilege of working with. He was always working, never gave up on a case, and showed a lot of initiative. His integrity is unquestionable. I believe that he is highly qualified for the post of Clerk of the Superior Court and I urge the voters of Floyd County to support him and vote for him.
Rome Police Department
To my friends and colleagues in Floyd County:
It is a great honor for me to endorse Joe Costolnick for the Office of Clerk of the Superior Court of Floyd County. I have known Joe for about 10 years. When we first met he was a detective for the Rome Police Department. He immediately struck me as intelligent and effective – especially since he helped our subdivision recoup some stolen items. Having family members in the legal profession and in law enforcement, we had a lot to talk about, and formed an immediate friendship. Most recently, Joe has been working as the Executive Director of Harbor House. He has done wonders for that organization – showing great administrative capabilities and initiative. He is a member of Rome Rotary and this gives me a chance to see him almost weekly and appreciate his high level of morality and integrity. All this being said, I believe he is the right person for the job of Clerk of Superior Court, and I hope you will join me in voting for Joe, because records matter!

Proud to have the endorsement of the Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 14. Thank you to all of the law enforcement members that serve our community each and every day, I am extremely proud to have served alongside you!
To the Citizens of our Rome / Floyd Community,
As many of you know, upon Joe Costolnick’s election, I will serve as his Deputy Clerk. It’s important that you know why I chose to do this. My background, like his, is in Law Enforcement. I have been a Deputy Sheriff for over 15 years and have a continuing desire to serve our community. My entire adult career has been working with various communities in an effort to make a positive change for the people around me. This began with a career in the YMCA, where I served as Branch Director in Pensacola, FL. This instilled an eagerness in me to inspire others to believe in themselves and to bring hope to them when they felt they were hopeless. As my career transitioned from the YMCA into Law Enforcement, my eyes were opened wide as to what goes on in the world around us. This is where the passion to encourage came alive. I was accustomed to seeing people on their best day instead of their worst. Nonetheless – every day people (you and I) deserve to be lifted up, to be encouraged even when we’re not at our best.
I came to know Joe a few years ago. He and I are both advisory members of the Rome Floyd Drug Court program. He is completely committed to giving back to the participants in this program, even though some were ones that he had dealt with while in law enforcement. I saw his passion for others, his selflessness, and his overwhelming commitment to give back to his/our community. Joe and I stayed in contact through our Drug Court program as he offered many resources to assist with our participants. Our paths once again came together as we were both interested in running for Clerk of Superior Court. This prompted an immense interest, as we were both aware of the current situation of the Clerk’s office. Joe and I sat down for an intense conversation regarding this role. It was truly amazing to see that he and I had the exact same reasons for running, we decided to team up. He believes in doing the right thing every time, not just when it suits him. He believes in a team effort and that everyone’s thoughts and ideas are valued. Joe has a completely different style of leadership, one that includes each and every staff member, a style that builds on strengths and ideas of others and inspires them to be their best. Leadership that works alongside our citizens to build relationships. He will bring integrity, professionalism, customer service, and courtesy back to the clerk’s office.
It is my belief that Joe is the right person for Clerk of Superior Court. He has proven leadership, he’s a pillar of our community, and is committed to the greater good. Most importantly, he knows that it’s not about him. It’s about the valued employees, the community we live, and the overwhelming need for leadership.
We ask for your vote on June 9, 2020, change is needed!
"To the citizens of Rome/Floyd county,
First and foremost, I would like to begin this endorsement for Joe Costolnick by saying thank you. My two boys and stepdaughter truly thank you for being a Light in our lives when we lost all hope in the darkest time. Thank you!
Joe Costolnick has been selfless, caring and one of the most influential persons I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He has leadership skills that are set to build up each one of his employees and all those surrounding. He is not a dictator. He genuinely cares about everyone and sees each situation out as if it were his own. Joe Costolnick has dived headfirst into a bee’s nest and without hesitation has answered every question, stayed on top of every campaign promise and upheld every word with honesty, integrity, and respect.
Joe has been there for my children and I throughout one of the hardest times of our lives. When nobody was able to help us, Joe Costolnick took on something he had no responsibility for, because he’s simply not afraid to do what is right, no matter who it is against, and no matter what odds may rise up. He used his police and investigating history to bring forth Light to a situation no one wanted to be involved in, providing us a little peace.
It is my deepest concern and prayer that Rome/Floyd County vote Joe as Clerk of Superior Court. Honesty, integrity, sacrifice, respect, organization...These are a few of the things that Joe can bring back to life in the clerk’s office.
Please Vote for Joe on June 9,2020. Change is needed.
